Frequently asked questions

WHAT IS THE “YOGA ALLIANCE”?

The Yoga Alliance is the largest internationally recognised professional organisation for yoga teachers and schools. The Yoga Alliance maintains teaching and ethical standards. The fact that the Yoga Alliance has certified our 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training programme means you can have complete confidence that it meets with its exacting standards and that all of our teachers have the necessary qualifications. Once you have completed your 200-hour level training, you can apply to register with the Yoga Alliance. Once accepted you can use the title 200 RYT or Registered Yoga Teacher.

Who is eligible?

Our 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course is designed for students who, after at least 2 years of practice and study of yoga, have recognised in themselves a genuine desire to embark upon the challenging yet fulfilling journey of teaching yoga to others. We also would love to welcome all serious students of yoga who wish to deepen and broaden their knowledge and understanding of this ancient tradition, whether or not they currently aim to become teachers themselves.

How will I be assessed?

Our students will be evaluated on an on-going basis with regular homework, group discussion, completing their course reading lists, case studies and to finally teaching a 1-hour class. Written essays and monthly homework will be given throughout the course. A continual journal will also need to be completed to reflect privately on the journey experienced whilst studying.  A written assignment will include a x6-8 week long course for students of their choice, style and level must be presented. Find more details on the evaluation procedure and grading criteria here.

HOW INTENSIVE WILL THE COURSE BE?

The course is designed to enable people to train and qualify as yoga teachers over a period of 9-months and as a result is mentally and physically challenging. However we are confident that you will throughly enjoy the programme and that it will only fuel your passion for yoga. However, it is important that students understand the level of commitment required.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE TRAINING AND WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY IF I’M UNABLE TO ATTEND THE course?

The 9-month course fee is £2,745

(£845 non-refundable deposit to be paid at registration)

Full Balance can be paid in two further installments, £950, 3-months prior to the course (1st September 2017) and £950 BY 31st October 2017

For any queries regarding cost please don't hesitate to contact Diane on 07946 663464 or email diane@academyforyogatraining.com

DO I NEED TO BE A VEGETARIAN AND WHAT SHOULD MY DIET BE LIKE DURING THE TRAINING?

No you don’t have to be a vegetarian, however we recommend embracing a vegetarian diet for the duration of the training because having a vegetarian diet can add to the many health benefits of a yoga practice. One of the many reasons people practice yoga is for what it does on a physical level. Beyond toning the arms and tightening the butt, yoga cleanses the internal organs, keeps the digestive system moving, improves blood flow, strengthens the immune system, and the list goes on!

WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO TEACH YOGA ONCE I HAVE COMPLETED THE COURSE? IS CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIRED TO KEEP MY CERTIFICATION?

Once you are certified you don’t need to continue your education to keep your certification but we strongly recommend that you participate in workshops and other trainings to keep on learning, yoga is a vast subject that any 200h course can’t cover in its whole, this is a life long learning.

WILL THERE BE ANY JOB OPPORTUNITIES AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE TRAINING?

There is a potential to work within our sister company Bath Yoga Studio however we do not guarantee that all students will get classes. Applications will be considered once your 200-hour YTT has been completed.
